I have always loved honey but I have recently become obsessed with it. I use it for everything from my green tea to my face when I have a break out. Here are a couple of skin-saving properties of honey and how I like to use it on my skin.
Aging: Honey is full of anti-oxidants and is great for slowing down aging.
Acne: Honey is naturally anti-bacterial so it’s perfect for spot treating breakouts and warding off future zits.
Boosts your Complexion: It is soothing and moisturizing. Massage and leave it on your skin for a while and it will give you a glow.
Pores: Honey is clarifying; it helps open up your pores and making them easier to unclog.
1. Honey Mask– The easiest thing you can do with raw honey is to slather it all over your face. Apply a thin layer to a slightly damp face in circular motions and leave it on for about 30 minutes then wash off with warm water. It will leave your face soft and glowing.
2. Spot Treating– When I get a breakout, I like to swirl a teensy amount of honey onto a q-tip and dab it on my annoying little blemish. If I really want to kick my pimple’s ass, I mix the honey with a little bit of tea tree oil. You can leave it on your face overnight and wake up with less-stressed skin.
3. Exfoliator– You can exfoliate your skin once or twice a week with a gentle scrub made with two parts honey and one part sugar. The sugar offers light exfoliation while the honey soothes and smooths out your skin. You can also use this as a body scrub! Your arms, legs and feet can also benefit from this simple but effective concoction.
